When you sharpen freehand, the angle shifts with every stroke, and that angle decides the result: too flat and the edge won't get sharp, too steep and it won't last. This holder is magnetic and sets two fixed angles. You rest the knife against it and draw it across; the angle stays the same along the whole blade, even on the twentieth stroke.

About the Diamond Sharpening Stone

  • Two sharpening angles — 15 degrees for thin kitchen knives, 20 degrees for sturdier blades.
  • Magnetic guide — The knife stays put instead of wandering across the stone.
  • Diamond coating — Removes material faster than natural stone and wears more slowly.
  • Two or four grits — Coarse to restore the edge, fine to hone it.
  • Wood and metal — The holder is heavy enough not to move as you draw the blade.
